4 DAYS MARRAKECH TO FES DESERT TOUR

ITINERARY:

DAY 1 : MARRAKECH – KASBAH AIT BEN HADOU – ROSE VALLEY- DADES VALLEY
We drive east of Marrakech past small suburban towns to the High Atlas Mountains. A few stops will be made to take photos, enjoy the scenery, stretch your legs and drink a cup of coffee, Drive uphill on curvy roads to the famous Tizi- Ntichka pass before you reach Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, the first major stop today for sighseeing. The Berber fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou is a UNESCO listed landmark and is also known a set for major Hollywood epics, just to name a few movies that used the village for shooting: Kingdom of Heaven, Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator and much more. Cross the river separating the Kasbah from the main road and explore the village at leisure. Should you wish to hire a local guide, they are available onsite. After lunch at leisure at one of the local restaurants, we continue to to Dades valley driving past Ouarzazate, Skoura Oasis, Klaa Mgouna, the capital of the valley of the roses, and famous for its rose water artisanal distillation factories, Dinner and overnight in Dades.

DAY 2 : DADES VALLEY – TODRA GORGES – MERZOUGA  DESERT
After breakfast at your hotel in Dades, today will start with a drive along the road of 1001 Kasbahs to the oasis of Tighir, where we will deviate to a minor road driving along the river to Todgha where you will stop for a walk in the oasis under the shade of palm trees and continue to Todgha Gorges. After some time at leisure to enjoy the immensity of the huge cliffs, and have lunch at a local restaurants.
Later on we continue our drive to Merzouga passing via Erfoud “capital of fossils and dates”. Up to our arrival to the Sahara Desert you get prepared to start your camel ride crossing the Erg Chebbi dunes to arrive to your desert camp deep in Sahara Desert of Merzouga. Overnight in a desert camp.


DAY 3 : MERZOUGA DESERT

Get up early for what might be the charming sunrise ever. To see the sun coming up over the dunes is something that you should see at least once in lifetime (have breakfast deep in dunes). After doing so, you trek back to the hotel and get ready prepared, we take our 4×4 (4WD car) to visit Khamlia, a village which is inhabited by black people originally from Sudan and other Sub-Saharan countries to enjoy their traditional Gnawa music. 

After that, we continue our journey by visiting Mefis mines and having a mint tea with a nomadic family to taste desert life. We might have lunch there or somewhere in deep desert before or after visiting Merzouga Oasis, then going to our hotel to enjoy the rest of the day and overnight Merzouga.


DAY 4 : MERZOUGA – MIDELT – IFRAN – FES
We pick you up after having your breakfast as usual, and drive to Fes. Our journey will take us through numerous villages such as Erfoud, Aoufous…, to arrive to Ziz Valley. More lately, we start heading via High-Atlas Mountains, crossing “Tizi N Telghemt” Camel pass (1907m) to get to Midelt, and then crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains; where we meet some Barbary Apes. Afterwards, we continue our way to Fes through Ifrane which is considered as a little Switzerland of Morocco. Drop off in Fes, end of your desert trip.
